New Delhi: Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur have developed a technique that could be useful in the early detection of development or strengthening of tropical cyclones in the atmospheric column prior to satellites over ocean surface in the North Indian Ocean region. New Delhi: India and Norway have agreed to jointly work in the area of marine spatial planning (MSP). This is a part of the Indo-Norway Integrated Ocean Initiative taken up under a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two countries in 2019. The Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Govt.of India, will implement the programme through its National Centre for Coastal Research (NCCR). Situated at ~3,500 meters above sea level, the facility is the country's highest meteorological centre.
