How Musskan Agarwaal Is Building Brands That People Remember Through August Media Connect

In a world where brands are constantly fighting for attention, Kolkata-based entrepreneur Musskan Agarwaal believes attention alone isn’t enough.

“People remember how something made them feel,” she says. “That’s what builds a brand.”

It’s a philosophy that led her to start August Media Connect, a creative marketing agency built around one simple idea: every business has something meaningful to say.

Long before she understood marketing, Musskan was fascinated by the way people made decisions. She remembers watching her mother leave home intending to buy one thing and return with five. She noticed which billboards stayed with her, which shop displays drew people in, and why some brands became household names while others disappeared despite offering similar products.

The question that stayed with her was simple: Why do people remember some brands and forget others?

Over time, that curiosity evolved into a passion, leading her to pursue marketing as a career.

In 2023, Musskan Agarwaal founded August Media Connect with the goal of helping businesses communicate more clearly, connect more authentically, and build brands people genuinely care about.

What makes the journey particularly noteworthy is where it began.

Kolkata is a city built on relationships. Networks run deep, and credibility is earned over time.

As someone who wasn’t originally from Kolkata, Musskan was building more than a business; she was building an entirely new professional network. For a first-generation entrepreneur with no industry connections, no inherited business network, and no ready-made client base, finding a foothold wasn’t easy.

The challenge became even greater as she set out to build an all-women agency from the ground up. Convincing clients to place their trust in a young founder in a new city was one hurdle; earning that trust while leading an all-women team was another. In an industry where credibility is often built over years of relationships, every opportunity had to be earned.

Every relationship was built from scratch, and every project became a chance to demonstrate expertise, consistency, and thoughtful execution. Over time, the work itself became the agency’s strongest introduction. One project led to another, and one client opened the door to the next.

That same belief in meaningful communication shapes the agency’s own presence online.

Instead of using social media solely to showcase services, Musskan often shares observations about culture, branding, consumer behaviour, nostalgia, food, and everyday moments that make people pause and think.

The goal isn’t to sell. It’s to start conversations.

“Marketing today is often mistaken for visibility,” Musskan explains. “But visibility without meaning doesn’t last. The brands people remember are the ones that stand for something.”

This philosophy is the foundation of the agency’s work across industries, including hospitality, food and beverage, fashion, luxury, lifestyle, wellness, and retail.

Whether developing brand identities, creating content, planning campaigns, or managing social media, the objective remains the same: helping businesses build meaningful connections with the people they serve.

Looking ahead, Musskan is also working on a creative publishing project focused on Indian design, culture, and visual storytelling – an extension of her belief that stories are not just tools for marketing but also ways of preserving identity, ideas, and culture.

Since the beginning, that philosophy has remained unchanged.

Because while attention may be easy to buy, trust must be earned.

And the brands that endure are rarely the loudest. They’re the ones people remember.
